Tis the season to be PUMPKIN

Hey there ladies and gents!
Michaela here! Today me and my nona made pumpkin cookies!
They are super delish and fun to make! (but a lot of work if you make it from scratch!)
We had to cook the pumpkin, make the pumpkin filling, and then make the cookie dough....and I'm here to show you how!
The cookie recipe used in this post was one i found on the inter-webs, so remember to stop by the store this fall and winter season for Jen's version of pumpkin cookies! (coming soon!)
NOW ONTO THE SHOW!
PREPARE THE PUMPKIN!!

TAKE OUT IT'S BRAINS! ...i mean SEEDS!!!

PUMPKIN FILLING!

COOKIES!!

Eat and enjoy! ^_^

When choosing a pumpkin, remember that the cuter they are, the more delicious they will be! Also remember that having a gramama around, makes cutting open the pumpkin a whole lot easier for you! (Cause she wont let you do it cause knives are for grown ups! >:0 ) If shes not around though, just cut a hole on the top of the pumpkin and then rip it off like you are a zombie and you need pumpkin brainz! (oh and don't worry...Mr. pumpkin is just playing dead)

TAKE OUT IT'S BRAINS! ...i mean SEEDS!!!
One of the bestest parts of a pumpkin is its seeds! (also its fun to take them out!(also gramma will let you take them out cause its gooey and goo is for children!))

SEEEEEDS! ...These are super easy to make, and provide a nice salty snack for those in need...of salty snacks! Just follow these simple instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350
1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Remove Seeds
3. Place on greased cookie sheet (make sure they are spread out so that they get crispy)
4. Salt to taste
5. Bake until brown and crisp! (i didnt time it cause im a jerk!)

COOKING THE PUMPKIN
Oh look at that...your pumpkin has no brains...i mean seeds....TIME TO DESTROOYY. This is where you watch gramma handle the knife again...or grow a pair and get your own knife...like i did! /flex.
Cut the pumpkin into smallish squares, use a smaller knife to scrape the goop off the top...(I know, I know...gramma is using a giant knife to do it...but she be straight trippin yo!)
Place the cut up pumpkin into a pot of water. When water starts to boil cover it. Check occasionally until pumpkin is soft! It will turn a pretty bright yellow and should be soft when you stick a fork in it (soft enough to SMUSH!(and not in a Jersey Shore type of way)) ...again I didn't time it cause Im a jerk face.

Ya know Im hooked on a filling, and I'm high on believin, that you're in love with meeee. *cowbell* (DONT ACT LIKE YOU DONT KNOW )
*AHEM* ...yes!...SMUSHING TIME! ...THEN....spices and stuff!!! This part was fun...and ...well...also looks...disgusting? But smells and tastes AWESOME

2 cups sugar
3 1/2 tsp cinnamon
3 1/2 tsp ginger

COOKIES!!
Like i said before...this is a recipe i found on the webs, however instead of using store bought pumpkin filling, we used our homemade (and obviously better) pumpkin filling.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED!
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1 cup pumpkin filling of awesomeness
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
(we also added 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts ...or however many you want)
(white chocolate chips are another idea that i didnt use cause i dont like chocolate cause im a jerk)

Sangria Day!
Hello peeps!
Michaela here!
Today Jen and I made delicious adult drinks called "sangria". I documented the event!
(I also blogged the event after partaking of event..pls keep this in mind as you continue! :D )
What we used:
2 key limes
2 lemons
2 peaches
2 plums
1 orange
some grapes
some raspberries
some simple syrup
some peach liqueur
some club soda
a splash of pomegranate soda
a lot (whole bottle) of wine
First we used our fancy smancy mandolin to slice the citrus!
Then we used our mandolin on 1 peach and 1 plum then diced the leftover peach and plum! (As much as I love using the mandolin...i also like some variety u_u )

After adding all this (plus some grapes and raspberries) to the pitcher of awesome, we had to make the simple syrup.
Its really simple to make...basically 1.5 cups water and 1 cup sugar.... put the sugar in the pot first, add the water, let sugar dissolve...DONT STIR :D

SMUSHING TIMEEEE!!!!!

Now, Pour, Drink, Enjoy! (Add stick of sugar cane for garnish/smushing purpose...and/or to soak up yummy-ness and chew on later >_> )
